Exciting news with this shop update.

Date 29-9-22

So tomorrow is the new shop update after the disaster that made me rethink about what I was doing. A couple of months back there was a fire that broke out close to where I worked and where I also stored all my stock for Hooks and Dye.

So the smoke from the fire dealt me a double blow and I was left with nothing and clutching at straws . I was let go from my job because they had also lost allot of their stock due to smoke damage. I had also lost all my hand dyed yarns that I had so lovingly created for sale over years. I had loads of undyed items ready for me to create one of a kind yarns and custom items for people. We all know that fire can do damage but so can smoke and the smoke damage was massive. With wool being so porous I was really worried and just numb, and in allot of shock.

After much scratching my head and allot of all what am I going to do now? Hiding in my bed waiting for depression to come and go, I had a few items in my house mostly roving that I could spin. So I spun and spun and spun. My Ashford joy and I started working.

Hand spun art yarn for sale 30-9-22

This shop update was going to be mostly all my hand spun items that I had recently created, and maybe a couple of hand dyed roving that I had left at home so that hopefully I could start increasing my stock again. I had been in talks with the insurance company and they had organised a company to come and attempt to clean my stock but it was not a given that it was going to work and there was still the possibility that I may not of got my items back at all.

Hooks and dye are back

But thankfully today I have received all of my items back and they are all in perfect condition, they were able to be fully cleaned. So this means now that the shop update tomorrow is going to be a super update of all my items all of my hand spun yarns, my hand dyed yarns, my roving and all the merino roving as well. Out of all of the items there was only one item that was not able to be saved so the company that saved my stock did a fantastic job and I am so happy.

Tomorrow is super update stock day going live at 7pm G.M.T

Some more news.

Another bit of news as well, I have signed up to Klarna. This is a company that can help you make smaller payments over a period of time for the item. Just like paypal pay in 3 or clear pay. I do also have the option for pay in 3 on paypal as well so there are lots of different options for you to make payment. If you see anything you like then why not also sign up to our monthly news letter and receive a discount as well as a thank you to you all for all of your support and love over the years but mostly over the last few months, the words of support have been wonderful and have ment allot to me.

It is now full steam ahead until we go live. See you there .

Little crochet heart, (updated with free pattern).

I was asked to design something small for a class for people to give their loved ones on valentine’s Day. Or even for them self.

DSC_0133

This is what I came up with.

These are made with hand painted merino wool and for the stuffing, I used sheep’s wool. But you can use standard filling. Even if you have a old cushion that you no longer use that filling will work just as well. The loop at the top can be used to turn it in to a key chain or make many in a range of different colours, and make a garland to dress a special area.

you can buy these ones above at https://hooksanddye.co.uk/product/heart-keyrings/. Sold out

or you can make your own with free pattern below.

Crochet heart keyring

Make this small cute little crochet heart for your loved one or even your yourself, attach it to your bag or set of keys.

Materials: 20g of any double-knit yarn. Fibre filling or wool for stuffing.

Scissors.2 stitch markers. 3mm crochet hook.

Gauge: Yarn needs to be tight when crochet.

R2: 2 dc in to each dc (12) R3: *1dc, 2dc * repeat round (18) insert stitch marker

R4-R9: 1 dc in to next dc and place a stitch marker. [NB] 1 dc in each dc ( ch 20 sl st in to last stitch only do this once). (18)

[NB] If you don’t fancy moving the stitch marker each time you can just make a note with pen each time to pass round to the stitch maker when you have 5 your finished. *

Attach a slip knot to your crochet hook. Put 2 pieces together with the ties facing each other count 2

R10: 1 dc in each stitch right round.

[NB even 1 dc in the stitches that you have joined together.]

Fold the heart together and put a stitch marker in each side. [this marks out the corners where you will start decreasing from]. 1 corner should be 9 stitches away from your start place a stitch marker. And then count 9 stitches back from the start and place the second stitch marker.
